Callum Parker BComp, PhD

Lecturer in Interaction Design.

Hi, I’m Callum! I am a Lecturer in Interaction Design at the Urban Interfaces Lab in the University of Sydney’s School of Architecture, Design and Planning. My research seeks to gain new understanding of interactive digital city interfaces and their place within urban environments, contributing towards the broader smart city. I’m specifically focused on leveraging cutting edge technologies such as pervasive displays, {augmented, virtual, and mixed} realities, and media architecture. Outside of research I coordinate and teach units across the undergraduate Design Computing and postgraduate Master of Electronic Arts and Interaction Design (MIDEA) degrees, including Designing for Virtual Reality, XR Design, and Interactive Product Design Studio (a capstone project for 3rd year design students). In 2013, I received a Bachelor of Computing majoring in Human Interface Technology at the University of Tasmania. In 2019, I received a PhD from the University of Sydney in Australia. I was supervised by Prof. Martin Tomitsch and Prof. Judy Kay.

Research Interests

I work across a range of topics within HCI and Digital City Interfaces with a particular focus on pervasive displays, {augmented, virtual, and mixed} realities, smart cities, and media architecture.
